Women’s Premier League’s Auction before the third season will take place in Bengaluru on 15th December 2024, with 120 players announced in the final shortlist.
On Saturday, the BCCI announced the list of players which features 91 Indian and 29 overseas cricketers, including 3 from Associate Nations. There are also 82 Indian uncapped players and 8 uncapped overseas players. With the five teams largely retaining their teams from the second season, only a total of 19 slots are up for grabs, with 5 slots for overseas players.
West Indies’ star allrounder Deandra Dottin is likely to be one of the most sought-after names, having returned recently from international retirement and impressing at the recent T20 World Cup. She was signed up before the first edition was left out by Gujarat Giants under controversial circumstances surrounding her fitness.
Among capped Indian players, Gujarat Giants had released Sneh Rana (who has led the franchise) and the allrounder will likely find bid from other teams. Recently capped Tejal Hasabnis, who made her international debut against New Zealand in the home ODIs, will also be among those generating interest.
World Cup winners New Zealand are represented by a solitary name: pacer Rosemary Mair. Among other prominent overseas names are Australia’s Kim Garth and Darcie Brown, England’s Heather Knight, Lauren Bell and Maia Bouchier, South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk. UAE’s Samaira Dharnidharka and Theertha Satish, and Scotland’s Sarah Bryce are the three associate nation representatives.
