WATCH: Colin Munro accuses Iftikhar Ahmed of chucking; Multan Sultans players react angrily

There was high drama in Pakistan Super League match between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United when New Zealand cricketer Colin Munro accused right-arm off break bowler Iftikhar Ahmed of chucking the ball. The incident happened in the 10th over of the Islamabad United innings when they were chasing the target of 169 set by the Multan Sultans.

Iftikhar Ahmed tried to aim a fast ball for Munro’s toes, which the New Zealand batter managed to keep out by bringing his bat down in time. But after the delivery, Munro repeatedly gestured at the bowler that he was chucking. Munro bent his elbow while mimicking the action of delivering a ball.

This riled up Iftikhar Ahmed, who waked straight to one of the umpires to have a word with them. The umpires seemed to be trying to placate him. Meanwhile Iftikhar Ahmed’s teammates took umbrage to Munro and his gesture.

Munro scored 45 off 28 before Iftikhar Ahmed caught him. Iftikhar, meanwhile, gave away 20 runs off this two overs in the night.

After the match, Rizwan spoke about the game.

“We were 15-20 short, the ball was gripping a touch and the second innings it was completely different. We felt 180-plus was a safe score. The way they executed in the death was good because of the experience, and we haven’t executed our plans well. There will always be pressure when you lose and hopefully we will improve going forward. The year we became champions, this is the same trend that happened, like losing first 3, winning the 4th and then losing the 5th. Hopefully we can turn things around,” he said at the post-match presentation.
