After the succesfull completion of the T20 season, India’s domestic 50-overs will begin with the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024–25, on Saturday, December 21.
A host of international stars will be in action as the Indian team management will keep an eye on the tournament with the Champions Trophy fast approaching.
India wicketkeeper Sanju Samson was left out of the squad for the forthcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy two weeks after he captained Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he was left out because he did not show up for the team’s training camp. Mumbai’s lineup for the first three rounds of the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy does not include Prithvi Shaw.
Format of the Tournament
38 teams are split up into five groups for the competition; groups A, B, and C each feature eight teams, while groups D and E each have seven teams participating in a 50-over match.
Each of the five groups’ top two teams will advance to the knockout round. The second-placed teams will be ranked from 6 to 10, while the five teams who finish first in their group will advance straight to the quarterfinals. Teams 7–10 will play two pre-quarterfinal games to advance, while the sixth-ranked team will also advance to the quarterfinals.
Groups of Vijay Hazare 2024-25
As aforementioned, the teams are divided into five groups, and each group’s matches will be played in a particular venue.
Group A: Haryana, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Jharkhand, Goa, Assam, Manipur.
Group B: Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Services, Railways, Himachal Pradesh, Andra, Meghalaya, Sikkim
Group C: Karnataka, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Saurashtra, Punjab, Pondicherry, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland.
Group D: Tamil Nadu, Vidarbha, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Mizoram.
Group E: Bengal, Kerala, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Baroda, Bihar.
The knockout stage of the tournament will begin on January 9,2025 with the final slated to be held on January 19. All knockout matches of the VHT 2024-25 season will be held in Vadodare.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy group stages will not be streamed or telecast. The knockout matches will be streamed and televised on JioCineam and Sports18 respectively.
