King Charles and US President Joe Biden were among the global figures who attended a ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day, held at the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer. Mr Biden wiped away tears as he watched footage from 1944 which showed bodies lying on the beaches.

The Redfield & Wilton survey put Nigel Farage’s party on 19 per cent of the vote among those in the 55-64 and 65+ age brackets, compared to 14 and 17 per cent respectively for the Conservatives. The poll of 2,000 adults is also the second in one day to show Reform within just two points of the Tories overall.
