SRH IPL 2025 retained and released players: Last season finalists Sunrisers Hyderabad are likely to retain Pat Cummins, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klassen and Travis Head ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction 2024.
The side brought Pat Cummins last season who also is the second most expensive player in the history of IPL. The Australian played a pivotal role is the side reaching the final after a couple of average seasons.
The side is filled with one some of the reknowned names in world cricket in overseas quota however, the talent has not transpired into performance on the ground. One area the side has lacked since its inception is quality Indian middle-order batter.
However, Nitish Reddy has played sublime knocks coming in the middle order for the franchise and Henrich Klassen has been one of the explosive finishers in the tournament for the last couple of seasons.
Player retentions will become significantly important going into the new three-year mega auction cycle starting from IPL 2025. Teams are allowed to retain a maximum of six players and have an overall allotted budget of Rs 120 crore for the retention and mega auction.
If a franchise opts to retain six players, they can retain a maximum of five capped and two uncapped players in either the 5+1 or 4+2 combination. While the capped players are segregated into three brackets ranging from Rs 18 crore to Rs 11 crore, an uncapped player can be retained at Rs 4 crore.
