India batter Sai Sudharsan scored his maiden century in county cricket for Surrey against Nottinghamshire on Friday.
Coming in to bat at No.6, the Tamil Nadu player smashed 105 from 178 deliveries with the help of 10 boundaries and a six as Surrey posted 525 in the first innings. Incidentally, the Gujarat Titans batter brought up his three figures with that lone six in his innings.
Captain Rory Burns top scored for Surrey with 161 off 266 balls, peppered with 11 fours and four sixes while Ryan Patel scored 77, Will Jacks scored 59 and Jordan Clark chipped in with 53.

For Nottinghamshire, Farhan Ahmed snapped up 7 wickets for 140 runs sending back Burns, Patel, Jacks, Ben Foakes, Sudharsan, Tom Lawes and Conor McKerr.
This is the second English County Championship match Sudharsan is scheduled to play for Surrey before returning to India to take part in the Duleep Trophy which will begin on September 5. He is in Team C which will be skippered by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Sudharsan had featured in Surrey’s last Championship match with Essex at the Oval in June as well as appearing twice for Surrey in September 2023.
Surrey are currently on top of the Division One chart and are eyeing their third County title in a row.
Sudharsan had a strong IPL 2024 for the Gujarat Titans, scoring his first century in the competition and making over 500 runs.
The 22-year-old batter also made his ODI debut for India, impressing with two fifties in three innings against South Africa earlier this year.
