Race-by-race preview and tips for Scone on Friday

Race 3 – 2:10PM MUSWELLBROOK FORD COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

5. Super Story has only won one of his 20 starts, but he has been placed in a further 11 starts. He resumed from a spell with a fourth at Narromine and should run well from the inside gate.

Dangers: 4. Tavros has a win and two placings to his name from just the four starts. He was a maiden winner at Gunnedah in May and has finished fourth in a Muswellbrook trial leading into this. He should run well fresh here. 3. Call Me Terry has won one of three starts with that being in a maiden at Muswellbrook. He ran fourth at that track when resuming and warrants respect here.

How to play it: Super Story EACH WAY.

Race 4 – 2:45PM LION BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (900 METRES)

6. Too Darn Lovely led them up at Tamworth when last produced and finished sixth when not beaten too far. She was placed at Moree before that and should take plenty of running down from on the speed.

Dangers: 5. Savoca hit the line at this track last time out to score a narrow but impressive win. This is no harder and he gets his chance to score again. 3. Pearls Treasure has been midfield in each of her two starts back from a spell at Muswellbrook and this track.

How to play it: Too Darn Lovely WIN.

Race 5 – 3:20PM SCONE EQUINE BENCHMARK 82 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

1. Sharp Shock hit the line well to finish second at Randwick in Bm78 grade at Randwick three starts ago before running home well for a 10th in the Dubbo Cup. He since hit the line well again to win the Coonamble Cup and while he has a big weight here, he looks the one to hold out.

Dangers: 10. Last Frontier has a good record with three wins to his name from just the five starts. He won a couple on end at Tamworth then ran fifth at that track before being spelled. He’s performed well in two trials leading into this resuming run and should run well. 6. Very Sharp is a quality mare at best and is a last start second placegetter at Tamworth.

How to play it: Sharp Shock WIN.

Race 6 – 4:00PM DARLEY SUPER MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

1. Rennata resumed from a spell with a third at Newcastle and then hit the line very well to run third again at Coonamble. She’s on the up and this looks a nice race for her.

Dangers: 2. Floodgates ran well when resuming from a spell with a third at Goulburn and while she’s drawn wide in this she looks to have the talent make an impact. 4. Paruna has only had three starts and has shown enough potential in those runs to be considered a chance against these.

How to play it: Rennata WIN.

Race 7 – 4:40PM GULLIVER’S MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

6. Tonkatsu Goddess has two placings to her name from five starts and is a last start third placegetter at Kembla Grange. She led in that event and wasn’t beaten far and a repeat of that would have her hard to beat here.

Dangers: 4. Like Lukey has been placed in three of four starts and finished fourth in the other. She’s a handy performer that’s had two trials leading into this. 11. Telecom is on debut after a few trials and a bold showing would not surprise.

How to play it: Tonkatsu Goddess WIN.

Race 8 – 5:20PM SCONE RSL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

10. Eclair Encore won on debut at Taree when doing the job well and since then resumed from a spell and wasn’t disgraced in a small field when fourth of five on the Kensington track. This is an easier assignment.

Dangers: 3. King’s Duty hasn’t been too far away in his recent starts at Newcastle and he’s drawn to get a great run in this from barrier two. 1. Shen Gui is talented on is day and is a chance in this.

How to play it: Eclair Encore WIN.

Best Bets: Race 4 (6) Too Darn Lovely; Race 6 (1) Rennata.

Best Value: Race 3 (5) Super Story.
