Woeful stuff from Penrith
We haven’t seen a blog post headline like this for at least five years. Penrith have just conceded another try, and it was another bad one to surrender. Jye Gray was the lucky recipient from dummy half after another Penrith error gifted them a great attacking opportunity. Rabbitohs lead 28-0 at halftime

Rabbitohs rout is on
All of a suddden it is 24-0. Penrith are having a shocker. They’ve hardly had the ball in the last 10 minutes, but that’s entirely their own fault. Forget about their last two losses, this is their worst performance of 2025. The fourth try was all too easy. Davvy Moale was never gonna be stopped. Rabbitohs lead 24-0 after 33 minutes
Laurie and Toelau off their games
It’s never fun to see but Panthers fullback Daine Laurie and No.7 Trent Toelau both look decidedly off their games. Laurie looks very uncertain under kicks and Toelau is being targetted in defence. Until he give South Sydney reason to think otherwise, it ain’t gonna stop.
Panthers are frazzled – and down 18-0
An act of ill-discipline from Liam Henry gifts Penrith another two points via a penalty goal. Then it gets worse. The kick-off sails over the deadball line on the full. But wait, there’s more. Koloamatangi got into a one-on-one battle with Toelau and there was only going to be one winner. Souths look really sharp. Rabbitohs lead 18-0 after 30 minutes

The moment Johnston was injured
A fraction of a second after he touched down, things got very awkward for Alex Johnston.

Panthers look off their game
The first 19 minutes will not have given anyone in the Penrith camp any confidence. Their right edge defence has been as ordinary as their ball control. Considering who they are without, you’d have to think they just about need to score the next try. If they are 16-0 down it will be a very long road back. Rabbitohs lead 10-0 after 19 minutes
