Jannik Sinner, who twice tested positive for an anabolic steroid in March, expressed his surprise at the World Anti-Doping Agency’s decision to appeal against a ruling of ‘no fault or negligence’ by an independent tribunal in August. The men’s tennis world No 1 previously explained that the banned substance entered his body as a result of a massage from his physio, who had used a spray containing the steroid to treat a cut on their finger. In a press conference after the quarter-finals of the China Open, Sinner said: ‘Maybe they just want to make sure that everything is in the right position.’
