Royal Challengers Bengaluru superstar Virat Kohli will feature in his 400th T20 match during the IPL 2025 season opener against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday.
The 36-year-old Kohli will be appearing in his 18th straight season in the IPL and is the only active player from the inaugural IPL match between KKR–RCB match in 2008 to appear in the first season-opener between the sides in 17 years.

Kohli will become only the third Indian after Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik to appear in 400 T20 matches. The former India captain also holds a plethora of records in the format, having notched up over 12800 runs in the format with eight centuries.

4188 of these runs came in 141 appearances in T20Is for India, including a century and 38 fifties. Kohli retired with the T20 World Cup triumph last year and ranks as the third-highest run-getter in the format. Kohli also leads the IPL batting charts with 8004 runs and a whopping eight centuries. Kohli’s 2016 is unmatched in the league’s history where he plundered 973 runs as RCB marched to the final.
Kohli made his T20 debut for Delhi in the Inter-State Twenty20 Tournament against Himachal Pradesh, making 35 on debut. He appeared in four more matches for Delhi and has never represented the side since.
Having appeared in six T20 World Cups between 2012-24, Kohli remains the leading run-getter in the tournament, with 1292 runs at 58.72 and 15 fifties.
