In a bizarre collapse, defending champions Western Australia lost eight wickets for just one run that too a wide as they were bundled out for 53, the second-lowest team total in Australia’s domestic one-day cup history.

After being put into bat, Western Australia were 52 for 2 in the 16th, before they collapsed inside 28 deliveries, losing eight wickets.

Six of the Western Australian players were dismissed for a duck, including Australian white-ball hopefuls Hilton Cartwright, Cooper Connolly, Ashton Turner, Ashton Agar, Jhye Richardson and Joel Paris, while wicketkeeper Josh Inglis was removed for 1.

D’Arcy Short top-scored for the hosts with 22, while Cameron Bancroft was the only other player that reached double figures.

For Tasmania, Beau Webster bagged 6 for 17, his career-best figures. he was ably supported by Billy Stanlake (3/17).

Chasing the modest target, Tasmania won inside nine overs with seven wickets in the shed. For Tasmania, Mitchell Owen scored a fine 29.
