Bayern Munich’s Josip Stanisic said that it was stupid of him to push a ball boy off his stool in a heated clash with Inter Milan in the 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions Trophy which ended in 2-2 but ended up eliminating the Bavarians on 4-3 aggregate. The incident with the ball boy occurred in stoppage time when he threw the ball away from the defender and Stanisic ended up pushing him to the ground.
“Every team in the world wastes time when they’re leading. It was a bit stupid of me to push him there,” Stanisic told German newspaper Abenzeitung after the game. Even though the Inter players protested vehemently, the Croatian escaped without any punishment.

After a goalless opening half, Harry Kane put Bayern ahead on the night and level on aggregate seven minutes after the break but six minutes later Lautaro Martinez netted for Inter. Inter then looked to have killed the tie off after another three minutes when Benjamin Pavard headed in from a corner but Bayern ensured a nervy finale for the home fans when Eric Dier scored with 14 minutes still remaining.

After the match, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany rued the the injury crisis that hit his side ahead of the quarter-final with Hiroki Ito, Dayot Upamecano, Jamal Musiala, Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies, Kingsley Coman and Aleksandar Pavlovic all out.
“I think the big issue, before Inter, was injuries. I think in the first game we showed a good Bayern Munich, I’m not talking about the result. In the second game we also showed a positive attitude in Milan,” Kompany said.
“We had many scoring chances, more than Inter. I have mixed feelings. The harsh reality is that we will not play the Champions League final at home. We can’t change that. The other aspect is the performance, we know we have done enough to win these games.”
