The Australian lost the first set to Frodin in a tie-break, and won the second set convincingly with the score of 6-2.
Jones, who is the top-seeded girl, is vying to win this year’s junior title. She was runner-up in the division at the Australian Open and at Wimbledon in 2024.
She also made her main draw debut at her home slam this year, falling to former Wimbledon champ Elena Rybakina on Rod Laver Arena.
The 16-year-old beat Anastasia Lizunova in the first round of the junior tournament, winning 6-3, 6-3.
