Australia A v India A LIVE updates: Test opening candidates bat for nation

Afternoon sports fans,

Anyone for cricket? Silly question. Sun’s out, cricket’s on. And what a game of cricket we’ve got – for one side in Mackay at least.

India A has been absolutely rolled for 107 in just 47 overs, with Queenslander Brendan Doggett (now plying his trade for South Australia) claiming a career-best 6-15 and bringing Australia’s Test opening contenders to the crease earlier than anyone expected.

This is the first of two four-day games and they’ll have a rather large bearing on who opens alongside Usman Khawaja in the first Test in a few weeks time.

Marcus Harris, Cameron Bancroft, Sam Konstas or Nathan McSweeney? Pick your poison, or just sit back and watch like the selectors because we’ve got at least Konstas and Harris at the crease earlier than expected.

Australia A’s innings kicks off in 10 minutes or so and we’ll be here for all of it. Giddy up.
