Grandstand finish looming
This game is about to have the grandstand finish it deserves.
Moments after Dylan Moore’s set shot snap from the boundary hit the post, Finn Maginess has pounced on a loose ball and curled it through from 30 out. It’s a four-point ball game with 3:31 left.
Georgiades’ goal
Is this the match-winning goal for Port Adelaide?
Georgiades, you star
Mitch Georgiades is a star on the rise. His third goal, a set shot snap from 15 metres out after a contested mark, has given Port an 11-point lead.
The Hawks are well and truly walking the tightrope now.
Port are playing inspired football. Jordon Sweet’s chase on Mabior Chol was outstanding. He never gave up. A ruckman digging deep to do something that’s not his strong suit. It’s efforts like that which win you big finals.
Port Adelaide 11.9 (75)
Hawthorn 10.4 (64)
Ginnivan seizes the moment
Just when you thought Port Adelaide had Hawthorn nearing breaking point, Sam Mitchell’s men have dug deep.
Goals to James Sicily and just then to Jack Ginnivan has trimmed the gap to just five points.
We’ve got about 10 minutes left, so we’re only halfway through the quarter.
How’s your heart rate, Hawks fans?

Captain’s goal for Sicily
We’ve seen James Sicily save games for Hawthorn as a defender, could he win one for them as a forward?
Miles Bergman gave the Hawthorn captain too much space at the ball-up. The Sherrin went over Bergman to Sicily on the boundary side, and his snap curls through.
The Hawks are back to 12 points.
Hang on. We’ve gone to the ARC. Is there a bend on Travis Boak’s finger? Boak immediately suggested with jhis hands it was touched, but the score review boffins couldn’t find enough evidence to overturn the on-field call. Goal to the Hawks.
Burgoyne, Horne-Francis have Hawks on the ropes
There are some kids playing very good games tonight, and Jase Burgoyne is one of them.
The son of Jason Burgoyne snaps truly from 35 metres out after a priceless touch by Willie Rioli from the centering kick.

And now it’s Jason Horne-Francis’s turn. The No.1 pick from the 2021 draft came through the forward-50 stoppage at pace and drilled it from 20 metres out.
The margin is now 12 points. Are we about to see the fall of Hokball in 2024?
The Wizard: Too small, too good
By Jake Niall
Todd Marshall subbed out – as suggested. James Sicily has gone forward. The Wizard (Nick Watson) is special. Too small, too puny, too damn good.
Port with the edge
By Jake Niall
One would think Port will sub out a tall – and Todd Marshall hasn’t done much since his HIA (head injury assessment). Luke Breust coming in as sub for Jack Gunston was timely.
On most numbers – contested ball (+19), forward entries (+12) in particular – Port have had a clear edge, yet they lead only by five points at three-quarter time. To get up, the Hawks need to win enough contests to get the ball out and free up their runners. They’re more dangerous on the outside. Remarkable that they’re within a kick with only two marks taken inside their forward 50 to seven.

The players must decide this game….no one else
Power 7.8 (50) lead Hawks 7.3 (45) at the start of Q4.
