Paris Paralympics 2024 Live Day 5 Updates: Nitesh sealed a 21-14 18-21 23-21 win against Great Britain’s Bethell to clinch the gold medal in the men’s singles SL3 badminton category. The first game was a tight affair but Nitesh came out on top. In the second game, it looked like Nitesh would wrap up proceeding but Bethell staged a comeback took it to a decider. In the deciding game, Nitesh came out on top, 23-21.

This was the F56 category, which meant that athletes competed from a seated position produced all six of their throws consecutively. Batista broke the Paralympic record with his second throw, sending the discus 46.45m. The Brazilian then broke the record again, throwing 46.86m. There is no shame in losing to a an athlete of this stature. Yogesh came closest to him and takes a well-deserved silver home. One more medal for India from track and field.
