The silversmith Gareth Harris makes the necessary modifications to include the Italian emblem on the Six Nations trophy at the workshop of Smith and Harris in Hatton Garden, London. Following Italy’s admission plans were made for the trophy to be amended rather than replaced. The trophy, made of sterling silver, was commissioned in 1992 and presented for the first time in 1993. There are 15 sides to the trophy, one side representing each player in the 15-man union code. In addition, there are three handles to represent the match officials.
